Commissioned in 1898, it opened in 1901 and was designed by Charles Harrison Townsend in the Modern Style.
It has displays of anthropology, natural history and musical instruments.

Parking is severely limited in local area. A pay-and-display car park is available locally behind Sainsbury’s, and there are two pay-and-display car parks at Forest Hill station
Museum & Gardens are free to enter, there is a charge for exhibitions.
