What’s on

All activities are included in museum admission. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Best for children aged 5-11 and their families

Takes place in The Postal Museum Learning Space

Join storyteller Olivia Armstrong for an interactive storytelling session and meet some extraordinary postal characters along the way!

Sort and send letters, parcels and postcards in this lively and playful session and help our posties on an exciting trot through time.

Mini Designers: Create your own postal uniform

Tuesday 13 & Wednesday 14 February / 10:00-16:00, drop-in

Best for children aged 5-11 and their families

Takes place in the Mail Rail depot

From a black top hat and bright red coat to all-weather active wear, postal uniforms have made the local postie easy to spot for over 200 years!

Design your own iconic postal uniform for a hand puppet using a range of fabrics, colours and materials.

Mini Makers: Design your own good deed patch

Thursday 15 & Friday 16 February / 10:00-16:00, drop-in

Best for children aged 5-11 and their families

Takes place in the Mail Rail depot

From 1872 to 1914, postal workers could be awarded good conduct stripes to celebrate their good deeds and hard work. These gold coloured lace bar stripes would be carefully stitched to a jacket for all to see.

Inspired by a good deed you have done to help a friend, a pet or perhaps the planet, design or embroider your own stripes or patch to celebrate your achievement.
